Our Most Frequently Asked Questions

Where can we get our marriage license?

If you live in or plan on getting married in Tuscarawas County, information on obtaining a marriage license can be found here
Under Ohio law, Ohio residents are only permitted to apply for a marriage license in the county where at least one party resides. That means if one party lives in Tuscarawas County and the other party lives in Stark County, the couple can obtain their license in either Tuscarawas or Stark County. If both parties live in Tuscarawas County, the license must be issued here. A marriage license issued to an Ohio resident is valid anywhere in the state of Ohio.
If the couple resides out of state, the license can ONLY be issued in the county that they will be getting married in.
